About...

Few facets of luxury fashion offer the timeless
elegance and sophistication of mink.
There are many elements that determine whether your
piece bears the distinction of truly finer fashion and here we present just a few things
to keep in mind when looking for the perfect Mink!
The Hair:
Should be even, short and velvety. The guard, or longer hairs should be uniform in height
and protrude above the dense underhair by only a few millimeters. Beautiful mink is never
wiry or stringy.
The Pelt:
How should it feel? The fur should be perfectly soft and the leather side should
feel gentle but with some character....like a leaf of sage. When looking at the
underside of natural mink, the hide should be creamy. Not too white, certainly not too
gray. Beautiful mink has character.
Color:
Natural mink has a depth of color and a range of hue. If natural, dark mink has a
distinctive brown cast to it. Look at the piece flat. The brown should be evident. Not too
red, not to gray, not too blue. Beautiful mink has clarity.
Shearing:
The nicest sheared mink is really "plucked" mink. Look for a dense, plushy,
creamy, delicate touch. Often made skin on skin or grooved, sheared mink has quickly
earned a place amonst the most sensual of fashions. Understated and elegant, sheared mink
has it's own allure.
Male Vs Female:
Both have their more precious attributes endearing them to their respective use. We prefer
to use male mink for trimming our cashmere, making hats, scarves or shearing to make
liners for silk raincoats.

The NAFA FIVE STAR GOLD label signifies
our mink as being created from only
the finest of North American mink.
